Maxsight contact lenses

Nike and Bausch & Lomb recently launched Maxsight contact lenses, the newest contact lenses designed for the serious athlete. These breakthrough contacts work like sunglasses, and can reduce glare and filter out 95% of UVA and UVB and more than 90% of blue light.  The results hit the homerun - the wearer achieves crisp, clear vision and visual acuity to win the game.

Why it better than sunglasses?

Standard sunglasses have several disadvantages.  Primarily, they can distort images with their unnatural shape. They are also prone to fogging and scratching, and can obstruct vision because of their frames and nosepieces.

Maxsight contact lenses removes all these disadvantages and focus on what athletes most: effective light control.  These intelligent contacts eliminate light leakage so that the eyes can relax and the wearer never has to squint.

Nike’s patented Maxsight Light Architecture selectively reworks certain light to enhance crucial elements in sport.  In an outdoor tennis court, for instance, where lighting conditions quickly change, a Maxsight wearer more quickly achieves visual definition going from bright light to shadows.  The same is true for golf players, who, with Maxsight, can more quickly perceive shallow contrasts on a putting green.

How does it work?

Nike and Bausch & Lomb spent eight years developing Maxsight science, which removes most of the blue light to enhance contrast and clarity. Unlike ‘cosmetically-tinted’ lenses, Maxsight provides complete tinting to eliminate bending or scattering of light. It also removes the ‘incidental light’ around the sides (as with sunglasses) so that the wearers squint less and gets brilliant views of contours and fast movements, even in changing light conditions.

Is it exclusive to pro athletes?

No. Maxsight can be worn even by recreational athletes, and even those who don’t play any sport but would like an alternative to the often uncomfortable sunglasses.

Maxsight lenses are available for those with vision correction needs and also for those who do not need vision correction. An eye care professional must fit the product.

These lenses last for 30 days, and need to be replaced monthly. Athletes and recreational wearers usually use them for short durations. Ask your eye care professional how long you can wear these lenses.
